Ventoux cleared of snow to allow Tour de la Provence finish on climb

The snow was cleared from Mont Ventoux overnight and this morning to enable the racing go ahead today

Snow has been cleared from the roads on Mont Ventoux to enable today's stage 3 of Tour de la Provence to finish on the climb.

The organisers of the race said last night because snow was falling on the climb they would need to check the course this morning to assess if the racing could go ahead.

Thankfully the local council pulled it out of the bag from the very early hours of this morning to clear the roads so the stage can end on the climb.

The stage will take the riders some 154km from Istres to Mont Ventoux-Chalet Reynard, with a finish up Mont Ventoux but finishing at Chalet Reynard rather than on the top of the climb.

Irish riders Nicolas Roche (Team DSM) and Eddie Dunbar (Ineos Grenadiers) will be in action.
