Members of the VC Glendale cycling club in Co Antrim are organising a charity cycle for a very worthy cause this Saturday. The funds raised will go directly to a charity known as Cancer Fund for Children which supports affected families in a number of ways.
A charity cycle aimed at raising funds to help upwards of 350 families and 800 young people affected by cancer will take place this Saturday, February 6th.
The event, in aid of the Cancer Fund for Children charity, is a 50-kilometre cycle starting and finishing in Belfast and the organisers are hoping to attract a large crowd.
The charity is entirely dependent on fundraising to cover the costs involved with providing the necessary care and services to local families in Northern Ireland.
Those include practical, emotional and financial support.
Cancer Fund for Children’s fundraiser Briege Price said: “We understand the devastating impact a cancer diagnosis and treatment can have on the whole family.
“Our team of experienced specialists help families cope with the impact cancer has on their lives by supporting them during and after treatment and sadly in some cases, bereavement.”
Every week in Northern Ireland, three children, teenagers or young adults, aged between 0-24 years old, are diagnosed with cancer and the funds raised from the cycle will go directly towards supporting those specialists, be it with one-on-one, group or sibling support.
As well as that, financial support is provided to ease the financial burden of a cancer diagnosis on a family.
VC Glendale are promoting the event which costs just £10 to enter.
