EF Education-EasyPost team boss Jonathan Vaughters has praised his Irish rider Ben Healy for the impact he has had in the pro peloton, and within the team, since stepping up to World Tour level at the start of last season.
As Healy has been rewarded with a new multi-year contract after his performances to date this season, Vaughters said he believed the Irishman would continue to race with his characteristic aggressive style and take more big wins in the process.
"We’re very proud that Ben will stay with us and we can continue the journey together,” Vaughters said after securing the services of Healy on a new extended deal. “It’s always extra special when a talent that comes to you in the beginning of their pro career achieves something special and that you’re able to keep him on the team.
"He’s a truly nice person. He lends a helping hand in so many ways. I loved watching him do that feed at Roubaix. He’s a genuine, kind soul who’s a killer in the races but a selfless person in his day-to-day life.”

Healy expressed his delight that he will now stay with the team, which is enjoying a very strong season and which has allowed him to race with total freedom.
“I am super happy to announce that I have signed a new contract with the team and that I am going to be continuing to race in pink,” said the 22-year-old Irishman.
“This team is just a nice environment to be in. It gives me a lot of opportunities to race the way that I want to race. It is just a happy team to be a part of.”
Before winning stage 8 at the Giro d'Italia last month, Healy had already won two races this year – GP Industria & Artigianato and a stage at Coppi e Bartali – as well as placing 2nd in both Brabantse Pijl and Amstel Gold Race before rounding off his spring with 4th in Liège-Bastogne-Liège.
