Useful winter training seminar by former top riders Tim Cassidy & Stephen Gallagher

Tim Cassidy rode in the colours of French team VC La Pomme and also enjoyed a good international career with Ireland. He has now turned his attention to coaching and with former Rás winner Stephen Gallagher will deliver what sounds like a very useful winter training workshop on Monday week.

With the Christmas period just about to tempt us into the excesses of the holiday season, two well respected coaching companies have teamed up to present a timely training workshop and keep us on the straight and narrow.

The seminar is titled How to Plan Perfect Winter Training for Cyclists. While it was planned for this coming Sunday, December 1st, the date has now been changed to Monday, December 9th.

It will be delivered by former professional and last Irish rider to win the eight-day Rás Stephen Gallagher, along with fellow former international Tim Cassidy who rode for Ireland up to and including World Championship level.

Gallagher is the director of Dig Deep Coaching while Cassidy owns the Peak Physical Therapy company.

On Monday week they will focus on:

  • How to develop a ‘base’ during the winter period on limited time.
  • Why building strength on and off bike is essential; how to do it and what to avoid.
  • Addressing biomechanical issues with specific strength work.
  • How to gradually build your training towards the 2014 season.
  • How to maintain balanced intensity during winter.
