The spill came just days after the luggage hold door fell off a private jet carrying Bono from Dublin to Berlin last week.

The frontman’s luggage, and bags owned by friends of his on board, were all lost when the door fell off and everything in the hold was sucked out.

He was travelling to Berlin for the Bambi International Music awards and had opted to fly on a Learjet 60 D-CGEO ahead of the other band members for prior engagements with German politicians.

The plane was reportedly around 15,000 feet over Germany at the time.

"You know, there may be a few cows or sheep in the German countryside with a very sore head," Bono said afterwards.

"We trust that nobody was hurt, because we would have heard by now, and that was actually our first concern, 'cause we were fine."
