A 21-rider Irish team has been named for the European Road Championships in Italy next week. The championships involve road races and TTs for men and women across the junior, U23 and elite categories.

The Irish team has emerged in the official start list for the events published by the European Cycling Union. The championships start next Wednesday with the mixed relay and junior men's and woman's TTs. They continue until tomorrow week, when the men's road race will bring the curtain down in Trento.

While the team is a large one, the elite teams are modest; two women selected and three men. Megan Armitage (Team Rupelcleaning) and Ellen McDermott (Team Boompods) make up the women's team while Ryan Mullen (Trek-Segafredo), Conn McDunphy (EvoPro Racing) and Matt Teggart (Velo Club Villefranche Beaujolais) are the men's elite team.
