Video: Sweeping bend 150m from finish causes huge crash in Thailand

With the smooth road surface, heavy rain and the peloton sprinting flat-out; when one rider came down on this bend 150 metres from the finish it caused chaos.

The Tour of Thailand has witnessed a horror crash, with a huge number of riders falling while sprinting flat out.

The incident occurred at the end of the 207km opening stage from Pattaya to Chanthaburi.

While the finish probably would have been fine in dry conditions, the heavens had opened.

And on the bend just 150 metres from the finish one ride came down. He slid across the road, effectively taking out a huge section of the peloton.

Such was the speed of the riders and the sheer number of fallers that those who crashed also took out the crowd control barriers.

However, the crash didn’t seem to bother Dutchman Raymond Kreder. The Team UKYO rider came through the chaos to win.
