Riding for BMC Racing since 2011, Manuel Quinziato wore the Italian TT champion's jersey on home soil on Tuesday at the end of Tirreno Adriatico and graduated the following day!

 

Having been a pro rider of 16 years, all of them spent at the top tier in the sport, Manuel Quinziato has shown you don’t need to live in a cycling bubble.

He’s aged 37-years now and is nearing the end of his time in the pro peloton.

Yesterday he qualified with a Masters in Law degree and has posted a photo of himself at the graduation ceremony.

That course was done part time, but the qualification is now in the bag and ready for use after his racing days are over.

He did his thesis on ‘Law in sport and the relationship between ordinary justice and sports justice’.

And before he did his Masters he did his primary degree, in law, on a part-time basis while a WorldTour rider.

He rode Tirreno Adriatico over the last week, finishing on Tuesday. He was part of the BMC line-up that won the stage 1 team time trial.

On Tuesday he wore the Italian national TT champion’s jersey on home soil for the first time, a special moment for him.

He graduated the following day with his Masters and will ride Milan-San Remo this weekend.

He’s been a pro since 2001, riding three years with Lampre, one with Saunier Duval and the next five with Liquigas.

And he’s been with BMC since 2011, currently a team mate there of Nicolas Roche’s.

He won the team TT world title with the outfit last year and was also crowned national individual time trial champion in 2014 and 2015 and took silver last year and in 2012.

He’s been 8th and 9th in Paris-Roubaix and 9th in Gent Wevelgem.

He was 4th on two stages of the Tour de France in 2006 and was 3rd in a TT stage in the Vuelta in 2008.

Manuel Quinziato was also 3rd in the Japan Cup in 2004 and has won two road stages in the Eneco Tour; in 2006 and 2015.
