Tom Pidcock has pulled off an incredible save, and in the middle of a sprint for victory. Poise, control and power; this incident really does have it all.
Tom Pidcock pulls off incredible save at Tour Series
Best known for cyclocross exploits, Tom Pidcock is currently crossing over to road racing and is already doing very well.
He claimed the junior TT crown at the Worlds last year. And while he says cyclocross remains his big goal for the next few years, he's riding for Team Wiggins on the road at present.
Having won the elite national criterium title in Britain last year, he's taken victory in the recent East Cleveland–Klondike GP.
And on Tuesday night he claimed round 7 of the Tour Series at Wembley Park. Pidcock broke clear with Connor Swift (Madison Genesis) and beat him in a two-up sprint.
But the winner's foot came unclipped as he struggled to stay upright on the final corner. The video below shows how he skilfully saved himself on the corner.
He then topped that move by seamlessly getting clipped in again. Furthermore, he scampered up the home straight to take the verdict on the line; a great show.
“I unclipped coming around the final corner so I was on the back foot," said the 18-year-old afterwards.
"Luckily Connor was going at the same speed, so I put my feet back in and just got him over the line.”
? Think @Ed_Clancy's handling skills were good in Salisbury on Thursday night?
