We recently brought you footage of the Saxo-Tinkoff crash during Sunday’s team time-trial at the UCI World Championships which occurred just before the second intermediate time check.

The two riders who fell, Michael Valgren and Michael Rogers, slid across the road in what was a very ugly incident.

Credit to both for remounting and finishing out the test, though they would cross the line last of the 27 teams, relinquishing just over eight minutes to BMC Racing, who won the 38.8km test to retain the title they claimed in Spain 12 months ago.

Here, Valgren shows his scars from battle. Ouch!
