Three men have been arrested about the violent robbery at the home of Tour de France green jersey winner Mark Cavendish and his family last month.
A gang, at least one of whom was armed with a knife, broke into the Cavendish family home while the pro cyclist, his wife Peta and the couple's children were at home in Ongar, Essex, on November 27th.
Cavendish said he was violently attacked by the men, who also threatened his wife; all while their young children looked on. The raiders also ransacked the house and stole property, including two very expensive watches.
The police in Essex have now charged Romario Henry (30), Lewisham, southeast London with two counts of robbery. He was due to appear at Colchester Magistrates Court on Monday, Essex Police said.
His court appearance follows a number of searches carried out by Essex Police in recent days, when three men were arrested.
While one man has now been charged, the other two suspects - both aged 27 years and from Gillingham and Camberwell - were released on bail until January 12th.
