Peter Stetina's right leg shows a fairly significant scar and is the result of a crash from the Tour of the Basque country back in April. The American suffered a torn ligament, four broken ribs, a broken tibia, and a shattered kneecap.

At the team presentation for the US Pro Challenge prior to the opening stage was a fairly substantial gallery of fans but one particular squad attracted quite a remarkable number of curious onlookers.
BMC’s Peter Stetina was the big attraction in Steamboat Springs while his teammate Taylor Phinney was no less so...if only because of the incredible scars they both have on their legs.
Stetina admitted he was lucky to be alive after he collided with a steel pole in the run-in to the finish at the Tour of the Basque country in early April while Phinney’s war wounds are the result of a crash in the US National Championships last June.
It’s been an arduous road back for both but they were present and correct on the stage ahead of last night's opening stage, which Phinney actually won!
