The Irish track team as arguably spoilt us with their results in the past couple of seasons, winning medals at World and European championships, as well as the UCI World Cup series.
In Guadeloupe at the elite European Championships in recent days, the sqaud endured a more difficult time.
The women's team pursuit line-up finished a decent 8th place and broke the national record in their first major outing. And Shannon McCurley took 7th in the scratch race.
However, the medal hopes of Martyn Irvine and Ryan Mullen were dealt a savage blow with a really bad crash in the team pursuit.
The injuries they sustained there effectively derailed their challenge in their individual events later in the meeting.
We've compiled a selection of their reactions from the Twitter machine.

Irvine already mentally digesting a tough few days
