Corkman David McCarthy got his career with Condor-JLT underway yesterday when he took to the start-line for the opening round of the Mitchelton Bay Classic series in Australia.
He finished in 15th place in a race where there were only 17 finishers from 68 starters.
The former Nicolas Roche Performance Team man has been Down Under for over six weeks now with his UK-based Continental team.
He is there alongside team mate and fellow Irish man Felix English, who is racing the elite events.
McCarthy, riding the support races in the Victoria series, said he was pleased with his showing.

“I’m happy with how I did but the heat is killing me, it wasn’t far off 40 degrees,” he said.
“The atmosphere was top class and there were huge crowds for it.
"In my race it was all the guys who couldn't get teams for the elite race and they’re all getting ready for upcoming Australian crit nationals next week so they’re absolutely motoring.
“The crit circuit was 800 metres on a pan-flat course; two bends and two 400-metre straights so the pace was incredible.
“I feel okay though; I've a good base done and I've raced a bit in Adelaide so that’s got me in good shape.”
