Teenager dies from injuries sustained in e-bike crash in Dublin

Gardaí are investigating the circumstances of a crash in which a teenager was fatally injured when he crashed on an e-bike in Dublin. The victim was alive when paramedics arrived at the scene in Tallaght.

However, after being treated at the scene he was then taken by ambulance to Tallaght University Hospital, when he was pronounced dead a short time later.

A statement from Garda Headquarters, Phoenix Park, Dublin, said the fatal crash happened in the Fortunestown Lane area of Tallaght, Dublin 24, at about 10.30pm on Wednesday night.

"A male cyclist - aged in his late teens - was seriously injured when he collided with a pillar in a residential area," the statement said.

"Emergency services attended the scene and the man was taken to Tallaght University Hospital where he was later pronounced deceased. No other vehicles were involved in the collision.

"A technical examination of the scene was completed by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators yesterday evening."

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to the collision to come forward. Anyone who was in the vicinity of Mac Uilliam Heights in Tallaght on Wednesday between 10pm and 10.45pm and who may have camera footage - including mobile phone and dash-cam - is asked to make the footage available to gardaí.
