The vehicle is a regular camper van rather than one of the luxury bling coaches. At this price tag, could an Irish club or team afford it?
It’s not unusual for the top pro teams in the world to put their bikes up for sale at the end of a long season.
Less common is the sale of team vehicles. But one of Team Sky’s camper vans is currently up for grabs on auction site eBay.
It’s a 2009 Eura Mobile Activa 820HS 3.0L Tag Axle Motorhome with a current top bid of £22,000.
Officially a six-berth, it was last used by the team during the 2014 season; acting as a changing room before and after races, presumably at those events where the more glitzy team coach wasn’t available.
Smaller vehicles like this one are also used as part of the support fleet for riders and staff at major races such as Grand Tours.
It is being offered for sale by a service company which appears to be acting on behalf of the team, with the claim it was used by the likes of Chris Froome and Bradley Wiggins.
The names of the riders from the 2014 campaign – including Ireland’s Philip Deignan – adorn one of the doors.
However, while the names can stay as a memento post sale, a condition of the transaction is that the team’s livery will be removed before the handover is completed.
Before that happens, the buy can have some photos taken as a souvenir.
While a fantastic piece of memorabilia for anyone to snap up, the fact the team’s logs and colours will disappear before any sale is completed perhaps limits its appeal in that regard.
But it looks in great condition and would likely make a great team vehicle for any Irish team or club with a few quid burning a hole in its pocket!

Philip Deignan's name on the door, along with the rest of the squad composition, shows the van was last used in 2014.

The driver's cab.

The vehicle looks basic inside, but all the mod cons are there and it looks in great condition.

Plenty of seating for everyone and leather covers so oily (or false tanned) legs won't leave any traces that can't be wiped away.

These vans pack a lot into a small space, though you wouldn't want to be too tall and in need of leg room!

There's plenty of room in the back; ideal for a kip if you abandon!

Not enough room to swing a cat but you could get your business done on the road in here...

Vital after a long day in the saddle, especially on a miserable day; hot shower.

The sleeping space, above the cab; can't see Chris Froome squeezing in here somehow!
