Action from the recent championship events on Sundrive track; which counted towards the ‘Neenan Travel Track Club of the Year’
Sundrive Track Team in Dublin is in poll position to take ‘Neenan Travel Track Club of the Year’ but is being pushed hard by a group of challengers as the competition for 2012 enters its closing stages.
After the first batch of national track titles – including the omnium and team sprints and pursuits – were decided a couple of weeks ago on the track at Sundrive Rd, Dublin, the local outfit came out leading the standings with 25 points.
However, just behind them a trio of clubs is tied for second place on 17 points and any one of them could overhaul the track specialist squad in the next few weeks. Those three clubs are Banbridge CC, Limerick-based Cycling Pursuits and Dublin’s Orwell Wheelers.

The ‘Neenan Travel Track Club of the Year’ is a unique competition on the Irish calendar in that it allows club members of all age groups and categories to contribute to the overall points totals, so the U12 age group can contribute points in the same way as the A1 riders.
The club with the highest points after the various events (listed below) wins the prestigious "Track Club of the Year" trophy which is presented at the annual Cycling Ireland awards dinner.
Previous winners include Lucan CRC, Orwell and Bray Wheelers.
