Cycling Ireland has named a new-look Irish team of five emerging young riders for Kerry Group Rás Mumhan in two weeks.

Conn McDunphy (Lucan CRC), Mark O’Callaghan (Aqua Blue Academy), Adam Stenson (Bikeworx), Ryan Reilly (AC Bisontine) and Jamie Blanchfield (Carrick Wheelers) are set to don the national kit over Easter.

McDunphy is in flying form having won the Tour of Ards last weekend and the Boyne GP two weeks ago.

He has been emerging on the homes scene for a couple of years but is really hitting his strike now in winning hard A1-A2 races in convincing fashion.

Mark O’Callaghan has been performing impressively since the start of the season and has been on the podium several times, including 3rd in the Des Hanlon Memorial.

He converted that form into victory last weekend at the Kilmessan GP when he saw off team mate Matteo Cigala and Philip Lavery in the sprint from the breakaway.

Stenson is the youngest and least experience of the team. He is a former junior international and has of late been riding very well despite having had injuries to contend with.

His best result this season was the A2 race at the Boyne GP and Cycling Ireland is clearly backing him for the future.

Ryan Reilly plans to race most of this season in France but will not depart Ireland for another couple of months.

He recently won the Carn Classic and is hitting form a the right time

Blanchfield is another quality rider and has been a constant in the breakaways and the results so far this year.

He was 2nd in the CycleSport GP in Dungarvan last weekend. And earlier in the season was 4th in the Newbridge GP, 5th in the Des Hanlon and also 5th in the Bobby Power Memorial on St Patrick’s Day.
