Strava reveals which Irish counties, towns have fastest & slowest cyclists

New Strava data for Northern Ireland the Republic of Ireland is fascinating. It compares cyclists in Irish counties and towns for speed, distance, frequency of training. And it also compares Irish cyclists with those in England, Scotland and Wales

Strava has released data for Ireland showing ranking the cyclists from each from each county in the Republic of Ireland from fastest to slowest average speed.

It has also ranked cyclists from each of the 26 counties based on how far they ride on average on each spin and how often they ride.

There is separate data for Northern Ireland which breaks down the information to the fastest and slows and most and least active towns for cycling.

And Strava has also provided data that compares how fast and active cyclists from the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland compare to those in England, Scotland and Wales.

In the 26 counties, cyclists from Offaly are fastest, with those from Westmeath and Cavan 2nd and 3rd in the ranking.

When it comes to the length of the average ride, cyclists from Monaghan go furthest, with those from Waterford and Roscommon next in line.

Dublin cyclists ride most often; with 39 activities per year on average. This compares to Tipperary cyclists with 33.1 rides were year and Waterford riders with 33 spins per year.

When nations are compared, cyclists from Northern Ireland and the Republic or Ireland train faster and for longer that those in Great Britain, though cyclists in England train more often.

Just a brief note before you start having a look at the data below: The information available for Northern Ireland and for the Republic was not broken down in the same way. So we have one set of data for the North and one for the Republic.

We are, of course, an all-island site, as regular visitors will know. But the data available from Strava was simply not presented in the same way for the Republic and the North. We'll see can we get a uniform set of data for the North and Republic next time.
