Having returned to WorldTour level with Team Sky this season and today gotten underway his first Grand Tour for four years, at stickybottle we are delighted to announce we have signed Philip Deignan to pen a daily Giro diary for the duration of the race.

The diary is brought to you by stickybottle.com in conjunction with Chainreactioncycles.com and specifically its sale of the An Post-Chainreaction replica kit.

Deignan's diary will offer interesting insight into how his Giro d'Italia is progressing and also how his squad Team Sky operates both on and off the bike.

The Donegal man returned to form in a serious way last year with the US-based ProContinental team Unitedhealthcare, with a number of strong rides that attracted the attention of top flight squads including Team Sky.

He began this year riding really strongly in the Tour Down Under before a broken collarbone sidelined him for a prolonged period.

However, he has come around very well and while his preparation for the Giro is not what it might have been, we believe Deignan will be in the thick of the action on some of the harder stages this year.

We also believe his story and that of his team are compelling and we are excited about bringing you Deignan’s viewpoint each day.

He said he is looking forward to the race and also writing his diary for stickybottle in the weeks ahead.

“The support and the warmth of the welcome for me since we got to Belfast to start the Giro have been amazing,” the Team Sky man from Letterkenny said.

“Stickybottle is a site I’m come to depend on for my news on the Irish scene and further afield, as I think a lot of people have, and I’m delighted to work with them in the next few weeks and hopefully beyond.”

We’ll have the diaries for you each morning, so be sure to check them out.
