The road scene in Ireland was packed with action in 2016; two stages in the Rás by Irishmen a rare sight of late.

But those victories by Eoin Morton (UCD-FitzCycles.ie) and Eddie Dunbar riding for the Irish team were just two among a group of fantastic performances on home soil.

And now you can vote for what you think was the best road ride on Irish soil in 2016 with our stickybottle reader poll below.

The National Road Championships in particular saw some great racing; Nicolas Roche far too good for the rest and taking the TT and road crown.

Not far behind him young Michael O’Loughlin put in a storming ride in the road race; the teenager and first-year U23 rider taking the elite race bronze and becoming the U23 champion into the bargain.
