Sam Bennett will pin numbers on again in just over three weeks time when he takes on Spanish stage race Vuelta a Burgos, with a stacked lead-out named to support him.

While the Irish sprinter’s star team mate Remco Evenepoel
(20) will target general classification in the race, Bennett (29) will aim for
stage wins for Deceuninck-QuickStep.

And the Carrick-on-Suir man has a formidable trio lined-up
up to help him in the sprints; Shane Archbold, Yves Lampaert and Michael Mørkøv.

The five-stage race gets underway on July 28th and while
there are plenty of climbs on the course Bennett said he’s looking forward to
getting back into the peloton.

“It feels great to know you are back to racing. As a
matter of fact, it feels like the first day of school all over again,” he said.

“We didn’t have much of a season so far this year, so we
are eager to do what we love the most again.

“Burgos will be a nice occasion to see how the form is
and test myself. People miss cycling a lot and I’m sure everyone will be happy
to have some racing again.”

Evenepoel said that being away from racing for five
months was a new experience for the sport and he was keen to get going again.

“This situation has been completely new for all of us and
we are curious to get back that racing feeling and see where we stand after all
this time. It will be important to discover how the body reacts to this first
event,” he said.

Deceuninck-QuickStep sports director Geert Van Bondt says
the riders, who have already been training in a team camp, were very determined
to show what they can do.

“We have two guys with whom we’ll try getting some good
results there,” he said of Bennett and Evenepoel.

“Remco, who will have the support of João Almeida and
Andrea Bagioli, and Sam, who can count on a strong lead-out train, consisting
of Shane Archbold, Yves Lampaert and Michael Mørkøv.”
