St Finbarr’s GP races called off after major crash in main event

A big crash in the A2-A3 race at the St Finbarr’s GP in Cork has forced the organisers to postpone the event today, Sunday.

Today’s A2-A3 race at the St Finbarr’s GP in Cork had to be called off on the first lap after a crash meant there was no ambulance cover for the rest of the race, or subsequent races.

The crash happened on a downhill section on the opening lap and brought a number of riders down, one of whom stickybottle understands has been transported to hospital in the city.

That left the commissaires with no choice but to halt proceedings and those uninjured rode to the finish and went home.

The A4 race which followed the A2-A3 event also had to be stopped.

The A4 field came upon the crash on their first lap and were told the event was cancelled.

At the time of writing we have no news on the injured riders and when - or if - the race will be re-scheduled.
