Sprinter Groenewegen delivers groceries to customers of sponsor's shop

Dylan Groenewegen may not be delivering publicity for his sponsors by winning races at the moment, but the Dutchman has now switched to delivering groceries for them.

Riding for Jumbo-Visma, which counts the Jumbo supermarket chain among its sponsors, Groenewegen has been riding around delivering groceries to customers who have ordered online.

“No (racing) for a while, but time to help,” he said in a Tweet about his new sideline while out of competition due to Covid19.

“In the coming period, I will deliver groceries by bicycle to the elderly and care providers who are currently unable to do this themselves.”

generate some good publicity for them, himself and his team.

Groenewegen also shared a link to a website where older, immobile or isolated people can register for assistance during the Covid19 crisis or where those willing and able to help can register to do so.

The 26-year-old has
won a total of five stages in the last three editions of the Tour de France,
including into Paris in 2017.

He had claimed three wins this year before racing was suspended; a stage at UAE Tour and two stages at Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana, where he also won the points competition.
