Fans of Sam Bennett who watched his exploits in the Tour
de France can now get their hands on exactly the same frame he rode to victory
on the final stage into Paris last Sunday week.
Bennett had the green jersey for points classification winner sewn up before the final sprint and his Deceuninck-QuickStep and Specialized delivered a beautiful new bike to him before the stage.
His S-Works Tarmac SL7 points classification customised frame
was given a fetching green spray job with the words ‘Together We Win’ scrawled
graffiti-style across the frame.
“We wanted this bike to pull in more than just the single
jersey color to exemplify that it’s never just one color or one human that
makes change or helps a person be victorious,” said Kayla Clarot, Specialized’s
principle concept graphic designer.
“The frame’s intent was to convey a sense of peaceful
energy and feel like a breath of fresh air. It’s a moment of celebration and we
did it together.”
Specialized is now producing and selling 100 of the frames, identical to Bennett’s, on a first come, first served basis.
The frames cost $6,500, which is about €5,600. That’s roughly €1,500 more than the Tarmac SL7 frames normally cost but as it's a collectors’ item and limited edition it carries a premium price tag.
Anyone interested in buying the S-Works Tarmac SL7
limited edition frame is asked to contact their nearest Specialized retailer.
You should then ask to order the frame and ask the retailer to verify your bike size while leaving your contact details.
When the frame is ready for you and arrives into the
store you will pay at that point. Delivery of the frames is expected in
December.
