Daniel Navarro (Burgos-BH) was riding to try and make it into the top 10 overall at Vuelta Asturias Julio Alvarez Mendo (2.1) in Spain when he suffered some form of mechanical.
The 38-year-old - who has won stages on La Vuelta and Critérium du Dauphiné - was very, very lucky when his team car was able to offer assistance on the go.
Indeed, his luck was in to such an extent that he was assisted from the team car on a climb that other riders were struggling on. Navarro was able to pass them all as he made his way back up to a group ahead, all under the assistance of his team car.
At the end of the stage today - a hilly 122km from Cangas del Narcea to Oviedo - Simon Yates (BikeExchange Jayco) claimed his second victory of the race by 37 seconds from a 14-rider chasing group.
Navarro was in the second group on the road, some 1:35 on Yates, and took 22nd on the stage. That was enough for him to more or less hold his position in the final standings; starting the day in 11th overall and dropping just one place today to 12th.
The race was won overall by Ivan Sosa (Movistar) by 15 seconds from Lorenzo Fortunato (EOLO-Kometa), with Nicolas Edet (Arkéa Samsic) 3rd at 44 seconds.
