The weather conditions have now claimed four of the six road race fixtures that were due to take place this weekend.
Newcastle West Knights were hoping to delay until tomorrow a decision about whether its events planned for Saturday could go ahead.
However, the organisers have decided to make the call today. They have now confirmed the Darach McCarthy & Co Solicitors Perpetual Shield and supporting races are off.
The club is already exploring options with Cycling Ireland to fix another date in the calendar to ensure the events go ahead soon.
That cancellation means all three fixtures that were planned for the opening day of the season on Saturday are now off.
For Sunday; Navan Road Club has confirmed its Cycleways Cup promotion is off.
However, Tralee BC has said the Lacey Cup will go ahead. The course in Kerry will be clear to race, the club says.
And a decision is expected tomorrow, Friday, on the Phoenix GP promoted by Belfast club Phoenix CC.
The weather has not hit as hard there as in other parts of the country. So the race organisers are to review their plans tomorrow and make a call then.
Stickybottle will keep you posted as news comes in.
