Small Irish junior team selected for World Track Championships in China

A small Irish team, of one rider, has been selected for the Junior Track World Championships set to take place in Luoyang, China, later this month.

Rhiannon Dolan, a 17-year-old who competes with the TC Racing Team, has been given the nod for the Worlds having been part of a larger group of juniors that recently represented Ireland at the European Track Championships.

Dolan, from Co Louth, will have a very busy time of it at the Worlds, from next Wednesday, August 21st, as she is due to contest the elimination, scratch and points races as well as the omnium.

In China, Dolan takes to the track first on day one for the scratch race. The following day she will line up in the elimination race, with qualifying in the morning followed by finals later in the afternoon.

On the third day of competition she will to the track again in the omnium, with events spread across the day, with the points race on the final day of competition.

Last month, Dolan rode the Europeans alongside juniors Lucy Bénézet Minns (Tofauti Everyone Active) - who claimed gold - Mya Doocey (Spellman Dublin Port), Seth Dunwoody (Cannibal B Victorious), Luca Holmes (Spellman Dublin Port) and Philip O’Connor (Dungarvan CC).
