Ireland will be represented by six riders in this weekend’s Tour of the Reservoir in the UK; a two-day event regarded as one of the toughest on the British calendar.

The iTap team will be spearheaded by promising young gun Daire Feeley, one of the main animators of Kerry Group Rás Mumhan.

He will have his bid for a good overall result against the best UK domestic pro teams supported by David Brody, Stephen Murphy and Darragh Bailey.

Felix English is racing for Madison-Genesis and David McCarthy will wear the colours of JLT-Condor.

Tomorrow’s opening stage is a hefty 87 miles; seven laps of a 12.5-mile course. Sunday sees the riders tackle 100 miles, with significant climbs on both days.

Adverse weather conditions at last year’s event made it an extremely tough race.

Eddie Dunbar was fourth overall last year in the colours of NFTO Pro Cycling, a great ride for him in his first-year at Continental level.

iTap manager Jonathan Gibson is hopeful of an attacking ride from his men.

“We’re riding as part of the team’s progression and structured development program, as well as preparing them for the Rás,” said Gibson.

“The idea is that we want to try and challenge the riders in a progressive methodology with new and more challenging goals and not to look for too much from them at once.”

Eddie Dunbar put in a great ride in the race when competing for NFTO last year on the UK circuit.
