A cyclist and driver involved in a road
rage incident that turned into a fight in traffic have both been sanctioned by
the courts in Singapore.
Driver Teo Seng Tiong (59) has been
sentenced to seven weeks in jail as well as being fined S$500 and banned
from driving for two years.
He was found guilty of causing hurt to the cyclist by a rash act and of failing to make a police report within 24 hours of the accident.
The driver said he had swerved to avoid
a taxi and did not injure the cyclist, British rider Eric Cheung Hoyu (35).
While the sentence was handed down on
Tuesday to the driver, the cyclist had been dealt with by the courts earlier.
He was fined S$2,800 last April for mischief and for not cycling in an orderly and careful manner.
After the incident back in December, 2018, the cyclist has been dubbed “Singapore’s most hated man” when his row with the driver went viral, see footage below.
