Shorts: Video inside Team Ireland, Dunbar & Clancy in Utah

Eddie Dunbar underway at Tour of Utah

Irish young guns Eddie Dunbar and Stephen Clancy are underway at the Tour of Utah, with plenty of climbs to negotiate before the race ends. Yesterday's stage 1 came down to a sprint finish with Kristofer Dahl of Silber Pro Cycling taking the honours, above.

Eddie Dunbar and Stephen Clancy got the Tour of Utah underway yesterday when Kristofer Dahl of Silber Pro Cycling was the surprise winner of the opening stage of 134km into Cedar City.

Dunbar came home safely in the bunch in 33rd place on the same time as the winner though Clancy had a tougher time and lost 14:49.

Dunbar’s Axeon Hagens Berman team put in a very strong showing with Colin Joyce finishing 2nd and perhaps leaving his final surge a little late and just coming up short for victory and the race lead.

The team also hand Logan Owen fighting for the stage win and he would place 5th on a stage when the relatively modest climbing did not split the field to any significant extent.

Today’s stage features on categorised climb – the cat 2 of Boulder Mountain.

But coming as it does just before the halfway point of the 158km stage into Torrey it may be one for the sprinters again.
