Seth Dunwoody is about to take his first steps into the U23 international peloton with Bahrain Victorious Development, having raced for its junior team, Cannibal B Victorious, for the past two seasons.
The 18-year-old has been unveiled in his new team kit, alongside his team mates, in the rider photographs in advance of new campaign getting underway.
Dunwoody, from Hamiltonsbawn in Co Armagh, will need some time to adjust to the higher level, as any first-year U23 does. But with his sprinting prowess, and his TT abilities, he is one of the new arrivals into the U23 ranks who will be tipped for success.
The development team has competed as Team Friuli ASD in recent years - an Italian-registered UCI Continental team - has now officially become Bahrain Victorious Development Team.
And as the official U23 squad of the Bahrain Victorious World Tour team, its riders - including Dunwoody - will be eligible for a call to the World Tour line-up this year.
That move will likely be a little down the road for someone like Dunwoody, in his first year out of the juniors. But it is a very useful development pathway already open to him before he even begins his U23 career.
