Schweizer victorious in Mondello as Gibson takes yellow at Leinster Three Day

Christoph Schweizer has taken victory in the second stage of the Leinster Three Day in Mondello Park, Co Kildare, after he just about edged out John Paul Lynch on the line at the end of a very wet contest last night, Tuesday.

That duo was followed in by Leinster Champion Mark Dowling (Dunboyne DID) and Damien Shaw (Lakeside), who took third and fourth respectively.

Jonathan Gibson (Unattached) has moved into the yellow jersey and is now just one point ahead of Dowling with one stage remaining in Batterstown, Co Meath, this evening.

The DID Dunboyne team is well placed going into tonight’s stage, with Tim O’Regan third on GC on the same number of points as Dowling. It means they will have a few cards to play as they attempt to take home the title this evening.

Last year’s outright winner Ciaran McKenna (Emerald) is now fourth, with Newry Three-Day winner Art MacManusa of South Dublin CC in fifth. Will McCabe (Eurocycles) last night slipped out of the yellow jersey he claimed in the opening stage in Donore on Monday night and is now sixth overall.

The Leinster Three Day can be ridden as three separate one-day races. Alternatively riders can sign on in advance for all three stages and qualify for the general classification over the three nights. The general classification is run on a points basis.
