
Sam Bennett is set to ride his first race as Irish champion this weekend when he takes on the Prudential RideLondon-Surrey Classic (1.UWT) on Sunday.
He has also confirmed his programme for most of the rest of the season, which includes an expected ride in La Vuelta.
After Sunday he competes in the European Road Championships the weekend after next followed by the Binck Bank Tour in Belgium from August 12th to 18th.
The busy Irish fast man then has a break of just six days before the three-week Vuelta begins on August 24th.
Having not secured a place in Bora-hansgrohe's team for the Giro despite winning three stages there last year, the Carrick-on-Suir man also sat out the Tour de France.
However, he now gets his chance in the Vuelta and he should be fresh yet whipped into form for the Spanish Grand Tour.
He will go into that race as a favourite for stage wins and will also go into Sunday's race in London highly fancied.
In the English capital he will face some of the sprint stars of the Tour included treble stage winner Caleb Ewan (Lotto-Soudal) and stage winner Elia Viviani (Deceuninck-QuickStep).
Arnaud Démare (Groupama-FDJ) will also line out having taken a stage this week in Tour de Wallonie.
