Watch Sam Bennett's brilliant last KM to take dramatic Vuelta win

Sam Bennett was on his toes in the final kilometre, which featured a crash, and incline and attacking close to the line. But he was up for it and took a great win

After a crash with exactly 1km to go, the finale of La Vuelta stage 14 was a dramatic one that saw Ireland's Sam Bennett come through the chaos to win.

The footage below really captures how well Bennett rode during that last kilometre; showing race craft, perfect timing and above all power to win out.

Deceuninck-QuickStep were already on the front, leading out Fabio Jakobsen, when the crash happened.

But just a few hundred metres further on it was Tosh van der Sande (Lotto-Soudal) who attacked and split the group that had formed at the front.

Max Richeze went after him and Bennett responded immediately; a vital decision on his part so late in the race.

He got up to Richeze's back wheel and went around him, with both of them then overtaking Van der Sande before the line.
