Sam Bennett may not have enjoyed a big homecoming after his Tour de France success last year, as he did not return to Ireland due to Covid19, but now Tipperary County Council is holding a delayed event in his honour.
Unfortunately as the pandemic continues to linger, the civic reception being planned is a virtual one.
While that means Bennett won't get to meet and greet the locals in Carrick-on-Suir, anyone around the country - indeed around the world - will be able to tune in.
The 'virtual civic reception' is being held at 7.30pm next Tuesday, November 2nd, and you can tune into in on the Tipperary County Council Facebook page.
The council said the event was being held to "celebrate and honour" Bennett's achievements in last year's Tour de France, where he won two stages and took the green jersey.
He became just the fifth rider ever to win the final stage of the race onto the Champs Élysées while wearing the green jersey of points classification leader.
A recording of the civic reception honouring Bennett will be available on the Tipperary County Council's website from next Wednesday.
