Sam Bennett ended the Tour de France as one of the biggest prize money earners, taking €72,370 for his efforts in stages and in the green jersey competition.
Bennett's two stage wins, on stage 10 and stage 21, were worth €11,000 each with 2nd on a stage worth €5,500, 3rd getting €2,800, 4th receiving €1,500, 5th getting €830 and 6th winning €780, down to €300 for 15th to 20th places on every stage.
The intermediate sprints that Bennett was targeting on every stage also carried prize money, but only for the first three riders at each sprint; €1,500 for an intermediate sprint win, €1,000 for 2nd and €500 for 3rd.
Bennett also received a cash prize for simply wearing the green jersey on each stage, collecting €300 for every day he was in green.
The Deceuninck-Quickstep man took the green jersey on stage 5 and wore it for two stages before losing it to Peter Sagan (Bora-hansgrohe).
However, he took it back from Sagan at the conclusion of stage 10, which Bennett won into Île de Ré, and from that point the Irishman held it all the way; rounding off his excellent run at the Tour with victory into Paris on Sunday. That overall win in the points classification was worth €25,000 to Bennett.

Overall race winner Tadej Pogacar (UAE Team Emirates) won the most money, taking €602,400 in winnings from the race while runner-up Primoz Roglic (Jumbo-Visma) took €248,050 and was next on the rider prize money list.
They were followed by Richie Porte (Trek-Segafredo) on
€111,540 and Mikel Landa (Bahrain McLaren) in 4th on €74,590.
Those top four prize money earners took home the most in prizes as they were top four overall in the general classification, with the prize money on offer for the GC the highest by far when compared to other prizes.
And then after the top four overall filling the top four
prize money positions comes Sam Bennett; the fifth highest prize money earner
on the Tour.
There is €500,000 for winning the race overall, €200,000
for 2nd place, €100,000 for 3rd and €70,000 for 4th.
Nicolas Roche (Team Sunweb) came in 45th in the prize
money list with €5,620. And Dan Martin (Israel Start-Up Nation) ranked 72nd as
he won €3,240.
