Sam Bennett's one-liner on Twitter was a great response to a UK website claiming him as British after his win and yellow jersey in France. Above, representing Ireland at the Worlds in Richmond last year (Photo: Sean Rowe)
Sam Bennett was busy today; taking the opening stage of the Critérium International in Corsica in the morning and then trying to defend his yellow jersey in the afternoon 7km individual time trial.
But he still found the time to have a bit of craic.
When self-styled "Brit-based" magazine Cycle Sport appeared to claim Bennett at British (and a Team Sky rider), the Carrick-on-Suir native jumped in with his reply.
As Gaeilge, the Bora-Argon 18 rider politely pointed out that he was Irish but thanked the magazine for their kind words.
It was all done in a very light-hearted and good humoured way, with Bennett's partner and a whole host of fans jumping in to add to the merriment.
You can see some of the banter below.
Sky's two wins yesterday, @Sammmy_Be today. Easy to say British teams/riders are on fire. Suspect Dutch, Polish and Irish fans would object!
