Just 24 hours after announcing the signing of Sam Bennett and a number of new lead-out men, Bora-hansgrohe has added Grand Tour general classification men to its roster.
The German WorldTour outfit has confirmed last year’s Giro d’Italia runner-up, Jai Hindley, is among its incoming men for 2022, as well as Colombian climber Sergio Higuita.
While they will be expected to perform overall in the Grand Tours, along with Wilco Kelderman and Emanuel Buchmann, the third new signing announced today, Marco Haller, is being recruited as a road captain.
All three signings announced today are joining the team on three-year deals; an indication Bora-hansgrohe plans to build around them.

That climbing talent will operate in conjunction with Sam Bennett’s sprinting goals, backed by his lead-out train of Ryan Mullen, Danny van Poppel and Shane Archbold, all of whom have signed two-year deals.
The announcing of seven riders in two days, just after the departures of Peter Sagan, and his entourage, and Pascal Ackermann were confirmed represents a big shift for Bora-hansgrohe.
Team general manager, Ralph Denk, said the signing of Hindley, Higuita and Haller brought general classification prowess to the team but also flexibility as they were versatile riders.
"Jai will clearly be orienting himself towards the GC with us. We think that second place in the 2020 Giro is not the end of the journey and we will continue to work together to bring more consistency to his performances,” Denk said.
“Sergio is a very versatile rider. First and foremost,
he’ll strengthen the team in difficult one-day races, such as the Ardennes
classics. He is a very good climber who is also fast in the sprints.
“Marco, on the other hand, brings a lot of experience for
his age, having had many different roles, including being a rider in the sprint
train, co-leader in the Flemish classics and also being able to lead a team as
road captain.”
