Sam Bennett's options are now open to include some of the biggest races in the world in the next couple of months.
Having made his debut in Paris-Roubaix last year with Bora-Argon Sam Bennett may well be going to back to the Hell of the North.
His team has secured a wildcard invitation to the event and have also been invited to ride arguably the hardest one-day race in the world Liège-Bastogne-Liège.
While Liège is regarded as the climbers’ classic – it counts Dan Martin among its former winners – Bennett may well get the nod to ride it.
And he is as close to a certainty as one can get in pro bike racing to rider Paris-Roubaix on April 10th.
The 18 WorldTour teams get automatic entry into the race with organisers ASO issuing wildcard invitations to seven ProContinental teams.
Aside from Bennett’s Bora-Argon 18 in that group of seven are Cofidis, Delko Marseille Provence KTM , Direct Energie, Fortuneo-Vital Concept, Topsport –Vlaanderen and Wanty – Groupe Gobert.
Bennett’s team manager Ralph Denk said the team was delighted to be selected for Paris-Roubaix.
"It is a great honour to be invited once again to the most epic one-day race in the cycling world,” he said.
“This monument of cycling is for sure the most challenging race of the year, because it is not just about physical fitness, it is also about mental strength, tactics and bike handling."
Liège will be decided on April 24th and was well as the WorldTour teams and Bora-Argon 18 will also include Cofidis, Direct Energie, Fortuneo-Vital Concept, Roompot – Oranje, Topsport Vlaanderen and Wanty – Groupe Gobert.
