Ronan McLaughlin and Sean Downey both return to competition after a break this weekend when they line up at the Volta Limburg Classic in Holland on Sunday. They will be joined on the An Post-Chainreaction team by Sam Bennett who has just finished the Three Days of De Panne.

Both McLaughlin and Downey have taken a break from racing recently after a busy start to the season. McLaughlin has been training hard in Girona, whilst Downey returned home to recover from illness.

The Volta Limburg Classic, or Hel van Het Mergelland as its known locally, often has a high attrition rate as the riders face three big laps with nine climbs per lap.

The An Post–Chainreaction team will face stiff competition in the UCI 1.1 race, which also includes a number of World Tour teams.

It will be interesting to see what form Bennett has come out of the Three Days of De Panne with. He rode well on the first stage, getting into the main break of the day and winning one of the intermediate sprints.

National champion Matt Brammeier also rode well at De Panne, breaking clear a number of times throughout the race, and he also lines up at Limburg.

Following on from Limburg, the next race on the agenda for the Irish riders is the Grand Prix Pino Cerami in Belgium next Thursday.
