Sam Bennett and the man who helped him finish after his horror stage 1 crash; Kiwi team mate Shane Archbold - Bennett's getting a huge amount of press.
Irish riders have been very successful on the international stage in recent years, but there perhaps have not got the recognition from the mainstream media they deserve.
The big wins are covered and the likes of Nicolas Roche and Dan Martin have diary columns in the Irish Independent and Irish Times respectively.
But overall the Irish guys are probably under represented in the media; a fact that would easily be addressed with someone pushing for them.
In recent days, however, Sam Bennett has gotten a huge amount of coverage for his bravery in battling on after such a nasty crash on the Tour de France's opening stage on Saturday.
Shane Stokes - a contributor to stickybottle now and then - is on the Tour with the Australian-based international site CyclingTips.com.au and has done this piece on Bennett, with an audio interview from the start line of yesterday's stage:
Bennett soldiers on after stage 1 crash: ‘I could see the bone in my finger’
And Stokes has also been keeping readers of the Irish Times up to speed with this piece following Bennett's opening stage spill that left him with really nasty wounds to his hand:
Tour de France: Sam Bennett suffers shoulder and finger injuries in crash
Cycling Weekly has also been keeping its many, many readers up to date with a piece on the Irishman that went something like this:
http://www.cyclingweekly.co.uk/news/racing/tour-de-france/sam-bennett-starts-tour-de-france-stage-two-despite-injuries-first-stage-crash-2-251729
Ireland's national broadcaster RTE - which does very, very little cycling coverage it must be said - also covered Bennett's smash and his decision to keep going despite his injuries:
Sam Bennett fit to start stage two of Tour de France
Meanwhile, stickybottle's Brian Canty is the regular cycling writer at the Irish Examiner and he brought us this dispatch on Bennett's troubles and brave battle in the face of his injuries:
Sam Bennett hangs in amid early carnage at Tour de France
The UK-based international site Rouleur split its 'top banana' award between Bennett and his team mate Paul Voss; the latter taking the climbers' jersey on the opening stage:
Tour de France 2016: Top Banana stage 2: Bennett and Voss in Banana Split
The 42.ie Irish sports website has also been keeping an eye on Bennett, dubbing his decision to battle on as heroic on social media after it became clear he would continue in the race:
Fears for Ireland's Sam Bennett after nasty crash threatens to end his Tour
And there was also lots of coverage in the non-English speaking media, just one of those pieces being this from L'Équipe in France:
Tour de France : Sam Bennett évacué vers l'hôpital
And there's obviously been loads and loads of reaction on social media - he's just a few of the mentions:
