Sam Bennett: “I'm looking forward to see what I can achieve at Vuelta”

Sam Bennett may be on the go since January but after missing the Tour he looks keen, fresh and in great form as he readies for the Vuelta

After taking three stages at the BinckBank Tour and sealing the points classification on the final stage today, Sam Bennett has said he was happy with his race.

Today's stage 7 was a classics course; taking the riders up a series of short climbs with Laurens De Plus (Jumbo-Visma), Greg Van Avermaet (CCC Team) and Oliver Naesen (AG2R La Mondiale) pulling clear.

Naesen won the stage from Van Avermaet but De Plus did enough to claim the overall title; the 23-year-old's first win in the top flight.

Bennett was back in 38th at 4:19; a very solid ride considering the majority of the field was stretched over minutes back the road.

And the Irishman knows he is in great form as he readies for the Vuelta.

“I’m very happy about our performance at the BinckBank Tour,” he said of his and his Bora-hansgrohe team’s week.

“Now I’ll take some time off to recover and be ready for

It will be Bennett’s only Grand Tour of the season after he was overlooked for the Giro and Tour.
