Sam Bennett named in very strong Bora-hansgrohe team for Binck-Bank

Sam Bennett goes into his next assignment among a very strong line-up with plenty of lead-out firepower and big engines to chase down breakaways

Sam Bennett's chances of taking further wins in his next outing have been bolstered by his team's selection for the Binck-Bank Tour.

The seven-stage race gets underway on Monday and Bennett's Bora-hansgrohe team has plenty of lead-out ability and big engines to chase down breakaways.

That combination of personnel should put him in a good position to take his first win as Irish champion, having been just pipped on the line in London last week.

At the Prudential RideLondon-Surrey Classic he was forced to sprint on a damaged wheel and was beaten to the line by Elia Viviani, the man whose place he is tipped to take at Deceuninck-QuickStep next season.

For the Binck-Bank Tour in Belgium, Sam Bennett will have the likes of Daniel Oss, Jempey Drucker and Marcus Burghardt for assistance as he hunts for more wins.

The line-up also includes Jay McCarthy, Oscar Gatto and Lukas Pöstlberger; the latter an Irish favourite after his 2015 Rás Tailteann win.

Sam Bennett already has eight wins in the bag this season and will go to the Vuelta later this month as a favourite in the sprints.

But before that the coming week looks like it should offer plenty of opportunity for him, with stages 1 to 5 run over flat terrain.

There follows an 8.35km flat TT on stage 6 followed by a lumpy final stage 7.
