A pretty chaotic picture emerged of buses pulling in to let passengers off. They stopped at bus stops along the cycle lane and even where there were no bus stops.
Video I Bike Dublin protest on quays
The I Bike Dublin group took to Customs House Quay last evening for one of its cycle lane protection activities.
The group picks locations all over Dublin where parking on, or encroachment into, cycle lanes by motorists is an issue.
They simply line the edge of the cycle lane, creating a human barrier between it and the passing traffic.
And in doing so, drivers are prevent from parking on or driving into the cycle lane.
Customs House Quay, on the north side of the Liffey, is a problem because coaches use the cycle lane as a bus stop.
Drivers drop off and collect passengers from the pavement, even though a cycle lane runs down that stretch of quay.
Some of the videos recorded by the activists last evening make for worrying viewing.
They highlight that the continue mingling of buses, passengers and cyclists along this stretch is an accident waiting to happen.
This isnt even a bus stop, why are passengers placed in a cycle lane, a 24h clearway? Who signs off on this? #allocate4cycling @Shane_RossTD pic.twitter.com/bOkY9hiqPR

Bad planning results in dangerous situations for people on bikes, stress for bus drivers and delay for passengers. Liffey cycle will resolve pic.twitter.com/zCtQISNzbe
