S-Works 7s customised for Irish men's road race champion Ben Healy

Fit for a champion: Ben Healy's cycling shoes have been customised by The Shoe Dr with a unique Irish champion's livery

Ben Healy will soon be unveiling his new Trinity Racing Irish road race champion's kit. But before then comes this reveal of his new ones and twos.

Healy, who took the Irish elite men's road race crown and the U23 TT title, in Knockaderry, Co Limerick, last October called in The Shoe Dr - Shea Gribbon - when it came to his new shoes.

Gribbon has been getting some great press at home and abroad, including on Eurosport, for his customised cycling shoes and he's come up trumps again with the job he's done on Healy's bróga.

The Shoe Dr - AKA Shea Gribbon sketched out the shoes, consulted with Healy on these sketches, and then got his permission to press ahead with his ideas

The Specialized S-Works 7 shoes were examined by Gribbon before the first step of a digital sketch being made - showing exactly which artwork and colours would go where.

Once Gribbon had that digital sketch worked up he showed it to Healy to make sure he liked the plan. And when Healy gave him the thumbs up, Gribbon got to work; stripping the shoe right back by taking all the original graphics off.

He then got painting - adding the tricolour, mini shamrocks, Healy's name and the Trinity Racing logo. When the painting was done the shoes got a few special coatings to make sure the customisation holds up to everything the weather and roads can throw at the shoes.

We think you'll agree the final look is fit for a champion. When we get images of Healy in his new kit - as well as all of our champion's, male and female - we'll bring those photos to you.
