Ryan Mullen was on the march again in the ZLM Toer in the Netherlands this afternoon, moving up one place to 11th overall on the general classification.
The Cannondale man finished 63rd on the stage in the same time as stage winner Dylan Groenewegen (LottoNL-Jumbo) after over five hours in the saddle.
It was another terrific display of riding from the Irishman who also had to contend with a crash.
He slammed his hip hard and required nine stitches in hospital to close a deep wound, above.
He also had an X-ray after the stage but was found to have suffered nothing more serious than that very nasty puncture.
At the time of writing it was unclear whether he’d be able to continue the race's stage 4 today, Saturday.
But lying 11th overall at 13 seconds behind race leader Sean de Bie (Lotto Soudal) he’ll be giving himself every chance.
Some of the names ahead of him overall include Taylor Phinney (BMC Racing Team), Marcel Kittel (Etixx-QuickStep), Stefan Kung (BMC Racing Team) and Sep Vanmarcke (LottoNL-Jumbo).
Not bad company to be in at all.
