Ryan Mullen's performances at Bora-hansgrohe over the last two seasons have been rewarded with a new multi-year contract with the German World Tour team. News that the Irish TT champion is set to stay with the team was expected.

While Mullen came into the set-up two years ago as part of Sam Bennett's lead-out train - along with Danny van Poppel and Shane Archbold - that partnership now looks set to end. Bennett is expected to be racing elsewhere in 2024. Van Poppel had already extended with Bora-hansgrohe for three more seasons.

Mullen has performed very strongly this season, and has put out several very noted performances at the front of the peloton in the finales, dragging the lead-out train into place and keeping it there. He was expected to fill the same role next year, when Sam Welsford looks set to be the team's new sprinter. Primož Roglič is also hotly tipped to join the team, from Jumbo Visma.

Mullen (29) has signed for two more years with Bora-hansgrohe and has already been a World Tour rider for the last eight seasons. Now one of the most experienced domestiques and lead-out men in the business, Bora-hansgrohe has clearly recognised his contribution and moved to retain his services.

Mullen was one of a number of contract extensions announced by the team earlier today, with Cesare Benedetti, Jonas Koch and Frederik Wandahl also set to remain with the team.

"Very pleased to be staying with Bora-hansgrohe for another two years," said Mullen. "I'm super grateful for the opportunity and the faith shown. It's been a great two years already and I'm more than looking forward to repping this team for the next seasons."
