Ryan Mullen and wife Georgina launch new 'family life' podcast

The Family Mullen | World Tour lead-out man and eight, sorry, nine-time national champion Ryan Mullen and his wife Georgina are launching a new podcast. It takes a look at life for the family of an elite rider

Best known for his exploits on the bike, Ryan Mullen is venturing into broadcasting with the launch of a new podcast with his wife, Georgina. The couple have one child - 2-year-old Gino - and are planning to open up about their family life on their new pod, I'm Not Your Soigneur.

The new venture - the first episode of which is available at this link - is backed by bike insurance company Bikmo. The pod is billed as "a tongue in cheek" look at "where tour life ends and family life begins".

Nine-time national champion, Mullen is about to start the Giro d'Italia with his Bora-hansgrohe team this weekend and said he was really looking forward to also getting stuck into the new podcast.

“My family at home are my support system and help my ‘on-bike’ life in so many different ways that you couldn’t even imagine," he said.

"With my career comes challenges for my little family to overcome but we do it together, usually laughing. This podcast allows me and my wife to sit down and reflect on the good, the bad and the ugly, of the life behind professional cycling.”

While Mullen is a pro rider in the sport's top tier, his wife is also involved in the sports industry as she is partnerships manager for supertri, the international pro triathlon series.

Now a married couple with a family, they have known each other for many years, meeting through cycling. Georgina's brother, Jake Ragan, competed for British Cycling and often raced against Mullen.

The podcast is produced by 'This Is Distorted', who said "listeners can expect a humorous, real and eye-opening insight" into the lives of the couple. The new pod would reveal that while "the cycling world demands discipline and control there is usually a healthy dose of chaos elsewhere".

"Throughout the series Ryan and Georgina will be joined by friends and special guests however in the first episode they set the scene discussing the realities of living apart for most of the year, their two year old son Gino, the dangers of racing and why they have decided to start the podcast," added 'This is Distorted'.
