Much of the uncertainty around the 2020 edition of the national road and TT titles is being resolved, with dates set for the youth title races and now also the Masters events.
Castlebar Cycling Club has confirmed it will host the Masters events on Saturday and Sunday, September 12th and 13th, in Co Mayo.
That obviously means the TT and road races being held on consecutive days, as is usual for the Masters road championships.
The A3 national road race championships will also be held on Sunday along with the Masters title races.
While the host club has promised
to share more details of the road race distances and courses in the next few
days, it has shared details of the TT route.
It will be held between Carracastle and Swinford on a 40km course, profile below.
There will be TT title races for Masters 40, Masters 50 and Masters 60 categories on Saturday followed by three Irish title road races the following day.
Confirmation that a host club and
dates have been set will come as a relief to many riders across the country as
the Masters category often produces the largest fields of any national title
races.
The fact the races are being held
in mid September, and that those dates have been confirmed now, will also bring
some structure to the season for Masters riders.
We’ll bring you more information
when we have it.
